PORTS ???

Here I go again…

The American ports being sold are currently owned by a foreign company, yes, but right now they are owned by an American ally, an English company.  The English company wants to sell the ports to a company owned by the United Arab Emirates… who have ties to terrorists??? The government says security won’t change, it will still be the U.S.Coast Guard in charge of the ports.  But are making it hard on ourselves?  Will this give the bad guys a better opportunity to take advantage of soft spots in our country? I think that Congress should block the sale until further investigation.  Again, I think Americans should run American ports where our  government can work in unison with an American company to protect us.

  1. Remember the movie The Sum of all Fears, where a nuclear device was smuggled in through the the port of Baltimore? Is there a better way to facilitate some horror like this than to allow Arabs to be involve in our ports.
Make no mistake, as long as the United States is an Ally of Isreal, all Arab countries hate us. Their goal is the destruction of Isreal. Our support and pledge of protection keeps Isreal afloat, so our demise would, to the Arab world, be an acceptable means to their most desired end. Whoever made this deal with any Arab country would probably be dumb enough to buy foxes to guard their hen house!

  2. Since I made this post, I have some more information. Bush says it ( the sale to UAE) won’t effect port security, but the reality of the matter is that the Port terminal operator has an intragle part in port security. The terminal operator hires security guards, installs security cameras and is responsable for unloading container and goods from ships. IF the UAE has ties to terriosts, we don’t need them running key ports in this country!

Our ports in the wrong hands could reek havoc on our economy — remember the port strike in California it affected everyone nationwide.

I have to agree that we need a fourty-five day investagation on this matter and that the outcome of the investigation is not to be kept secret. If the outcome is kept secret we (the public) would not know whether or not the investigation was thorough and whether or not our ports would be secure after the sale. In which case we should all urge our congressmen to propose legislation to block the sale of our ports.
