And a Happy New Year!

2008…

The clock is ticking and it’s almost over…

I’m not sure about everyone, but every Sunday morning a program come on CBS, it’s called Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood. Every year, the last Sunday of the year, they do a segment on the people who died, this year I knew almost everyone (none personally of course, but I got that pang of loss none-the-less) The real losses in my opinion were Bo Diddley, Charleston Heston, Estelle Getty, George Carlin, and here in Delaware a lady named Phyllis Gardner.

I hate thinking about these things, but the lost are a part of the year, they are part of what made that year memorable.

Other things that made the year memorable of course is the election of our first Bi-racial President, the word “bail-out” now has a new meaning, and, well what made your year memorable?

  1. Good to see someone else who enjoys CBS Sunday Morning! It’s probably the programme I look forward to most and on the rare occasions I can’t watch it, I DVR it. Loved it with Charles Kuralt and now Osgood but the content is always as interesting as the presenter…a gentle, arts/music/lit oasis in a ‘fluff’ week of talk/morning shows. Like you, I saw last week’s with the obits and recognised every one (some, even if only a few, I hadn’t realised they had died…and at least one they missed, I think. Miriam Makeba…Mama Africa…great voice, great woman). Guess that tells us one thing, Wolfbernz…we are getting older when we are so familiar with those passings! 🙂

  2. Thanks for stopping by my blog, Trina. Had to laugh…in pretty much the same boat as you and, speaking of boats, the two summers since we’ve had our boat it’s been a struggle to stay home for Sunday Morning. Not for me but those who will proclaim they love me! CAnnot understand why I’d rather watch Charles Kuralt’s offerings instead of baiting a line and teasing some poor fish…or, more likely, some poor fish teasing me. I loved it when the tides were more conducive to MY needs…LOL. But, of course, the jammies, mug of coffee, curled up on the couch and CK…you said it perfectly. Ideal beginning/end of any week.
